Rewritable and recordable CDs are an easy and cost-effective way of distributing or backing up data. The Diamond Data DD12832-158 is a high performance 32x12x8 rewritable CD drive with BurnProtection Buffer Underrun Protection technology for improved reliability.
BurnProtection prevents errors that can damage discs if the stream of data supplied to a recorder is interrupted during recording. If a break in the data stream occurs, the Diamond Data DD12832 pauses the recording and restarts once it receives enough data to be able to continue.
Nero 5 Burning ROM software, included with the DD12832, makes audio and data CD authoring easy. It provides many advanced recording functions including on-the-fly, track at once, packet writing and support for a wide variety of CD formats. An MP3 audio decoder is also included.
Ahead Software's InCD packet writing software is also included. InCD uses the Universal Disc Format (UDF), providing random read and write access to a CD-RW disc. This allows you to write to the disc from any Windows application. Just drag and drop files to the CD-RW drive to store them on disc.
Nero 5 InCD 2.0 is compatible with Windows 95, 98, 2000, and Me.

Create your own audio CDs using MP3 and MS Audio files
Nero’s audio codec supports high speed MP3 encoding allowing you to convert audio files into the MP3 file format at high speed. Audio tracks can also be encoded into MS Audio and Wave formats. The plug-in uses the ultra-fast MP3-Encoder from the Fraunhofer Institute, the inventors of MP3. With the MP3 encoder you can compress your favorite music tracks to 1/10 of their original size, at near-CD quality.
The limited-use encoder plug-in will allow you to encode up to 30 audio tracks. An unlimited encoder plug-in is available for an additional fee.
InCD Packet Writing
Read, write and delete files and folders from a CD-RW disc as if it were a floppy disk. InCD’s UDF format allows you to save files directly to the CD-RW disc from any application. Or drag and drop files to the disc using Windows Explorer. InCD 2.0 is compatible with Windows 95, 98, Me and 2000.
